With authenticity and warmth Bruce uses a person-centred approach for helping individuals, couples and families. He creates a safe space for people to reflect on patterns in their relationships and life. In developing insight and understanding they can work toward change.
He works with a broad range of therapeutic approaches drawing strongly on emotionally focused and attachment based therapy approaches. This focuses sometimes on the here and now, and how past experiences impact the present. Using a trauma informed approach, he enables people to understand and change the impact of past traumas, current triggers and their responses to events.
Bruce is an accredited social worker and family therapist. He completed his Masters in Family Therapy training at the world-renowned Tavistock Clinic in London. He has 30 years of experience in relationship counselling, child and youth mental health and a range of human services in the UK, NZ and Australia. He is an established teacher, trainer and supervisor of social workers and counsellors. In the past he has lead teams in a relationship counselling service and worked as a clinical manager of youth mental health service. He has a strong interest in relationship counselling, men and LGBTQI+ issues.
Bruce moved to the Peninsular in 2020 to build a balanced and authentic lifestyle. He thrives on connecting with the bush and sea to restore his inner self to better guide people in their journeys.
